Stressy Sunday

โ€”

This is a longer video, but hilarious nonetheless. Funny football player intros.

It’s the eve of back to school! I love this time of year; it signals the end of summer and ushers in a sort of restart. I’ve already had a handful of PSLs (Pumpkin Spice Lattes) and am ready for more cardigan-ish weather.

Yesterday, my rising third grader and I got fresh haircuts before heading to the place where magic happens and my bank account dwindles: Tarjay (Target). We hit the school supply section for some last-minute purchases only to find (or not find, really) once again I waited too long to get those marble composition books. So another stop to Safeway, and we’re all set. However, I’m very pleased to report that Target has already started stocking Halloween candy, so there’s that. Yay!

Getting my girl ready for her first day of third grade wasn’t the only thing giving me a little anxiety. Today, I will be seeing my brother and cousin for the first time in more than 12 years for my bro and 25 years for my cousin. I’m meeting my second cousin, an incoming freshman in college and new Maryland resident. I’m nervous because they are a link to my childhood and much has happened in our families, especially in the last couple of years. Nothing soap opera-worthy, just real life stuff that forces one to unpack some feelings.

On a complete side note, last night my daughter and I watched the adorable Netflix movie You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah featuring Adam Sandler, his wife, their two grown-up daughters and Elsa from Frozen. I think you’ll love it.

Speaking of Idina Menzel, remember this gem? I’ll leave you with the Oscars bungle from John Travolta. Still love you Danny Zuko! Happy Fall, y’all!
